CASE STUDY — DEVELOPMENT CAPITAL NETWORKS
They asked for a marker. We built the kit.
Development Capital Networks was sponsoring a hole at the Oklahoma Bankers Association golf tournament and asked us to quote logo ball markers. For the per-piece number they gave us for a marker, we put together a full hole sponsor kit instead: a magnetic ball marker set, a tee and a thank-you card with a tracked QR code, bagged and hand assembled. One hundred of them.

The ask
DCN partners with banks to help them lend to more small businesses, so the Oklahoma Bankers Association tournament puts them on the course with exactly the people they work with. They were sponsoring a hole and asked for a few quotes on golf ball markers with the DCN logo, like one they had seen at a trade show, plus our recommendations. One hundred pieces, a target price per piece, and a tournament date that was not going to move.
Why not just a marker
DCN had already looked at logo golf balls and ruled them out: a ball serious golfers would not see as cheap was hard to do at that budget. A marker on its own is a nice token, but a sponsored hole is a handoff. A player walks up, someone from DCN says hello, and something goes in their hand. We designed for that moment, and the kit itself came in under the per-piece number DCN gave us for a marker.
What went in the kit
- A magnetic ball marker set. A poker-chip ring with a removable magnetic marker, the DCN logo printed full color on both sides. We prepped the logo for print on a red ring and mocked the set up in the proposal, so DCN saw it before they approved anything.
- A thank-you card. A flat 2 × 3.5 in. full-color card from DCN’s own art. Its QR code goes to a landing page DCN built for the tournament, so every scan is tracked to the campaign.
- A red bamboo tee to match the logo.
- A white drawstring organza bag holding all three, hand assembled in our Columbus studio.
Built backward from tee time
DCN asked on a Thursday morning. The quote and mockup were in their inbox that night, and they approved it within the hour. The proposal named the two dates DCN had to hit, approval by September 15 so the markers could be ordered and card art by September 18, and said plainly that either one slipping would put October 19 at risk. We checked the marker proof before it ran, down to the spacing of the type under the logo, printed the cards, assembled the kits and shipped them to Oklahoma City to be in hand by October 14, five days before the tournament.
“This is a nice package,” DCN’s managing director wrote back when she approved it.
